Produktbeschreibung
Punk Rockers The DoLe release their new album Signing On Again – their first recordings since 1978.
Very few recordings survive from the two years when The DoLe were first around in 1977-78 …. until recently when an old cassette tape of a rehearsal was discovered in an ex-band member’s attic.
Following the premature death of original lead singer Emu (Ian Neeve) the band members met up for a meal in his honour and made the decision to reform, gig and then to properly record the best songs.
Signing On Again is the result and the album was taken up by Mod/Punk label Detour Records.
The DoLe first formed in Peterborough in 1977 and, after furiously gigging around the country, in 1978 recorded their iconic single “New Wave Love”, which reached the heights of No.3 in the NME’s independent charts and was later judged as the fifth best new wave single of all time by Mojo magazine. After some line-up changes and continuous gigging, the band finally split in early 1979.
Fast forward to 2015, shortly after the meal, bass player Matt Gillatt was contacted by former Prodigy guitarist Gizz Butt, who had been a fan of the band and offered to pay tribute to Emu by taking on the role of vocalist and lead guitar. In 2016, the newly reformed The DoLe took to the stage, including a prime slot at the Rebellion festival in Blackpool.
For the new recordings, The DoLe found a superb producer-engineer in Andy Hawkins at the Nave Studios in Leeds and laid down nine new tracks (and later added a live track from a recent Bored Teenagers gig).
We’re blown away by the results and we hope you will be too.
