product description
The Killermeters from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire are not just musicians, they’re friends and storytellers in fact, forerunners in the northern Mod revival scene, and during the early days released some standout singles like the love tale ‘why should it happen to me?, the ever soulful ‘Twisted wheel’ and many others followed along with some real quality Albums.
Starting out like most bands during the punk explosion in ’77, The band continuously play hard are not afraid to travel to ply their trade up and down the UK …
…and having seen the band well into double figures over the years, I’ve said this before many times, the band make playing music look easy and I know it isn’t! It is the time, love and the dedication that they put into producing real quality both on vinyl and into playing live shows.
Now, with the release of this EP, aptly titled ‘Waiting for the sunshine’ ‘The Killermeters are ready to take the rest of 2024 their year.
The Three-track EP starts off with the A side , ‘Waiting for the sunshine’ a track which is as up-beat as its title suggests. The lyrics are strong and powerful from Vic, with the new wave driven guitar from Mick and Jack, this is something that becomes a theme throughout the EP, whether it is Steves drum driven Garage punk of ‘Sometimes I feel’’ or the fast-paced of ‘Here she comes’’ all three tracks are class and have an appeal fans are going to be impressed with, not losing the Fabulous sound that makes the band one of the best in the scene.
Although the band had line-up changes and additions, this current line up really works and, on every song, the EP itself has a great pacing. Three tracks make the songs feel complete and all are strong tracks, with the highlight is surely the A side / lead track ‘’’WAITING FOR THE SUNSHINE! With Claire Helms lovely harmonies and the added organ sound by Jack Warlop', It’s a catchy 1960s-esque rock sound and sing-along chorus and is infectious, I’m certain the listeners won’t be able to stop themselves singing along.
Overall, The Killermeters prove that less is more on this EP, as they showcase their catchy music once again, Their Rhythmic and upbeat sound provides a cover for their ‘’loves lost’’ lyrics that are raw and honest about life.
The pacing of the EP is very good, Furthermore, they do not sound rushed or unfinished. Within the ever-changing sounds of the Modernist genre, The Killermeters prove that they can stand on their own, no problem!
Let the good times roll!............’you’ve found your way……….
