product description

The Valiants...

Taking you back to the 1979/81 Mod Revival was in full swing and the majority of the new mod bands were formed in the South and a Northern Mod band was much needed to service the growing number of scooter clubs and the long established huge Burnley and Pendle scooter club amongst others!

A local pub the ”Bridge Inn” rapidly became a Mod / Ska pub and a few of us began to form a scooter club the Rossendale Valiants! The band was formed soon after and Myself, ex punk and former Grout member “Paul Paint” on guitar vocals, a great front man Mozz (Mark Morrison) lead Vocals, on drums Kirk (TinTin) Fletcher and a talented young bassist Flanny, Carl Flannigan!

After starting out doing gigs at the 'Bridge Inn', word rapidly spread throughout the scooter scene and the Valiants were on their way! Commanding a huge following and our fee ramped up to peak at £400 a gig unbelievable at the time and in one particular week we did 4 gigs enabling me to buy a brand new USA Fender strat which was used on all recordings and gigs there after.

Our most famous gig was at the 'Cats whiskers', a large venue in Burnley and we packed it out to capacity and landed ourselves a record deal with 'Look' records and recorded a full album at 'September sounds studio' meeting amazing people like Elivis Costello, and even ABBA’s tour manager!

Unfortunately one of our members robbed some very expensive studio mikes and we were kicked out (pure rock n roll), however some of the original album tapes although not a final mix were secretly copied and a few survived and now can be released! The energy and vibe of the era is preserved in every track!

Watch out for the full length album coming late this year!
